Ella had the opportunity to talk with Laurel Parry while in Ottawa this spring. Laurel shared her career path, her passion for the arts and why the Yukon has such a vibrant arts scene.
Laurel Parry works as the manager of the Arts Section of the Yukon Government’s Cultural Services Branch. The Arts Section delivers arts funding programs, manages public art collections, carries out programs under a craft strategy, and provides consultative programs and services that foster the development of and enjoyment of the arts in the Yukon. Laurel, born in NWT, and raised in the Yukon, has a degree from the University of Victoria in History in Art. Laurel was the Vice President of Culture, Ceremonies and Protocol for the 2007 Canada Winter Games, which was the largest event held north of 60.
