Thanks!...A Guide to Donor Centred Fundraising. By Penelope Burk

I highly recommend this book. It was given me to read when I was an assistant at the Royal Ontario Museum Foundation during their $200 million Capital Campaign. Afterwards, I applied the same good advice in this book to a fundraising campaign I ran for a mid-sized dance company. (I raised donations by 200% in the first year!)

International Arts Manager - Magazine Impromptu Publishing

I've enjoyed reading this magazine for some time. It gives you a great sense of what is going on internationally in the field of arts management. Plus, I can go the Toronto Reference Library and read all the back issues.

Arts Marketing Insights: The Dynamics of Building and Retaining Performing Arts Audiences by Joanne Scheff Bernstein

Wow!  A whole book about arts marketing – who knew?  Yes, mostly American but still relevant to us up here.

Guerrilla Marketing by Jay Conrad Levinson.

Seeing as how I work in sales and customer service for a Not-For-Profit I found this book very useful.  It gave me great ideas on how to make the most of marketing materials, budget and time spent in the community. A must read for anyone with a Not-For-Profit budget.

As artists and managers in the field, we should not wear black. Black shows dandruff. We suffer from it as a group lately, scratching our heads.

Marketing is the key, and I for one appreciate all the references.

Check out http://www.artsmanagement.net where you can sign up for an international arts management e-newsletter that’s full of interesting items. Some are academic and some are practical, but there are tid bits for everyone, whatever your fancy. The site is also a good resource.
